If you’re thinking about see a new movie this weekend, here’s the general consensus from critics at http://www.rottentomatoes.com, which I often agree with…
1. Hot Tub Time Machine 2 – Rated R
Critics Consensus: A shallow dip overflowing with juvenile humor, Hot Tub Time Machine 2 is a lukewarm sequel that’s healthiest to avoid – only 15% of critics LIKEY
*Personally, I didn’t see the first one, because I was told it’s just as non-entertaining as this one!
2. The Duff - Rated PG-13
Critics Consensus: The DUFF doesn’t achieve teen-movie greatness, but offers enough of a postmodern twist on the genre to recommend — and boasts typically great work from star Mae Whitman. 61% of critics LIKEY
*Yes, we’re in for a plethora of not-made-for-the-Academy-Awards films between now and summer, and rumors say this one barely qualifies for a full-price nighttime ticket.
3. McFarland USA – Rated PG
Critics Consensus: Disney’s inspirational sports drama formula might be old hat, but McFarland, USA proves it still works — especially with a talented director and eminently likable star in the mix.
*great to see Kevin Costner on the big screen, and 76% of critics LIKEY.
